An Employer Identification Number (EIN) is a unique nine-digit number issued by the IRS to identify a business for tax purposes. Under the Corporate Transparency Act (CTA), an EIN is required to verify the entity's existence and ensure accurate filings.
To capture an EIN in EntityKeeper, simply:
- Navigate to the Entities tab and click the desired entity's name.
- On the entity overview page, click the Jurisdictions tab as noted below.
- The EIN field can be found in the "Employer ID / Federal Tax ID / EIN" column.
- From here, you can enter the EIN by updating an existing jurisdiction (pencil icon) or adding a new jurisdiction (plus icon).
- When you are finished, click Save!
